I just listed this awesome vintage suitcase on my website and I wanted to share one of the ways it can be repurposed.

You can easily turn one of these classic 1970s hardcover suitcases into snazzy looking pet bed. It doesn't really take much! Grab a soft pillow, blanket or rug for the bottom of the suitcase. I used a faux sheepskin rug from Hobby Lobby, but choose something that matches your own style. Then gather your pet's favorite toys and stock the interior pouches of the suitcase.

This particular suitcase has a beautiful interior. The fabric is in great condition and it has lots of pockets for storing toys and treats.

It took my cat about half a minute to warm up to this new bed! It would also work perfectly for a small dog. I actually have two cats at home so I'm thinking about making another one of these using a much larger trunk. Then maybe there will be enough room for them to cuddle together.

You could attach some thin hairpin style legs to the bottom of the suitcase if you wanted it to sit higher off the floor. In this case I'm fine with the bed sitting on the floor, as that's what I my cats are used to. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this idea. Here are some suggestions for you to recreate the look. Thanks for reading!

I’m not actually sure you can consider this an upcycle project since I didn’t do much to it, other than clean it up. That said, I think I found a fun way to reuse this vintage cart and I hope it inspires you to look for the potential in old discarded items.

Whenever I see an old atlas while thrifting, I never pass it up. I love using vintage maps for crafting and in my home decor. I recently found and listed some pages from a copy of The Literary Digest 1927 Atlas of the World and Gazetteer.
