Upcycled Vintage Chandelier Crystals

Upcycled Vintage Chandelier Crystals by Two Purple Couches

I am loving this idea for upcycled vintage chandelier crystals via Two Purple Couches blog. She has a step-by-step tutorial posted for turning old chandelier crystals into beautiful necklaces using suede cord and a few standard jewelry-making supplies.

It’s such a simple upcycle idea but the result is gorgeous…plus, who doesn’t love a wearable upcycle? The contrasting mix of rustic suede with the polished crystal is very fitting to my style and I will certainly be keeping my eyes open for old chandelier pieces during my estate sale hunting from now on! Here are some photos from Two Purple Couches blog and a direct link to the tutorial.

I know I will be returning to her tutorial again, as soon as I get my hands on some of those old crystals. This is one vintage upcycle project I have to try. I think they would make lovely gifts and I wouldn’t mind having one to wear myself! Plus, they actually don't seem that difficult to make.

Knowing me I’ll probably wait until I find some vintage crystals at an estate sale or flea market. I love having things to hunt for! But if you’re feeling crafty and itching to start this upcycle project right away, you can purchase chandelier crystals on Etsy. That is if you don’t already have them on hand, of course.

Stay tuned! I’ll keep you posed on any crystals I find while hunting AND if I can find enough, we just may start stocking them in the online shop. Thanks for reading. I hope you enjoyed this upcycling idea! –Nicole Mendez, Curator

Upcycled Industrial Metal Cart

This upcycled industrial metal cart sold recently but I wanted to share the project with you anyway. I’m not actually sure you can consider this an upcycle project since I didn’t do much to it, other than clean it up. That said, I think I found a fun way to reuse this vintage cart and I hope it inspires you to look for the potential in old discarded items.

Whenever I see an old atlas while thrifting, I never pass it up. I love using vintage maps for crafting and in my home decor. I recently found and listed some pages from a copy of The Literary Digest 1927 Atlas of the World and Gazetteer.

Vintage Suitcase Mini Bar

If you know me, you know I love a vintage suitcase! A while back we were hosting some friends for drinks and hors d'oeuvres before dinner. I thought it would be cute to set up one of my vintage suitcases as a pop-up mini bar in the middle of the table and place all the food around it.
