OVERVIEW:
We put together this modern California cabin bedroom design for a client up in Lake Arrowhead. This is the master bedroom, which has a cozy sleeping area and connected sitting area. When we started this project the room had all the original furniture that dated back to the 70's. Lots of large bulky pieces stained in a dark wood tone. Our goal with this simple refresh design was to brighten up the room and give it a more modern and minimal feel.
We actually decorated a couple rooms in the cabin but instead of creating a cohesive deign plan throughout, we really tried to play up the characteristics in each individual space. For example, this room has a large round stained glass window with a lot of mauve and pink tones. So for the color scheme, we stayed neutral, bringing in small hints of mauve here and there.
I found these photographs of Lake Arrowhead on Etsy by local photographer, Shannon Howard. The lighting in the photos is perfect for the color scheme in the room! The exact bed we used is the platform bed from Thuma. I have similar ones linked below. The room was already wired for sconces on either side of the bed but the outlets were not being used. We decided to put them to use again with these rustic wall sconces from Lamps Plus.
