This summer has been a whirlwind, but mostly in a good way. Other than a couple weeks of summer camp, the kids have been home most of the time. We were fortunate to spend several weeks at the beach with my parents and a couple weeks in my hometown in Colorado. I truly enjoyed the extra family time AND was also able to sneak in some design work.
At the beginning of summer I was hired for a really fun project. I've been working on a vacation rental cabin up in Lake Arrowhead, Ca. Have you been? It's about an hour and a half drive from us here in Chino Hills, and it’s really beautiful up there!
This project is a simple refresh to give the cabin a more updated and modern vibe. I’m working on four main areas: the living/dining room, master bedroom, guest bedroom, and outdoor deck area. I’ve also advised on exterior paint colors for a whole new look from the outside as well. This cabin, which my client uses as a second home and vacation rental, has beautiful beamed ceilings, a huge outdoor space and a gorgeous 180-degree view of the treetops.
I was hired to create fresh updated designs for each area, as well as handle the ordering, delivery and installation of all the new items. I am happy to offer this type of service to locals who need extra help bringing my design together in their home.
In most areas I went for a neutral scheme with small pops of color. Mixing black and white along with natural wood tones has been a theme throughout the cabin. Without being overly “themey” I’ve incorporated nods to mountain life and nature. I think I’m most excited about the deck area, which is really turning out to be a huge transformation!
We are already in the installation phase of this project but a few more things need to get done before final photos can be taken.
